Position: Operation Planning Engineer – (1 Post)

Position reports to: Grid Coordination Engineer

Job Code & Job Grade – BC01/D4

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Overall Responsibility

 

Responsible for planning the allocation of interconnection transmission capacity, which is discharged by ensuring that no new contracts or trade exceeds the available capacity of the interconnectors

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides input in the definitions of plant production schedule
  • Provides input of the dispatching plan and schedule
  • Provides input in the formalization of energy purchase and sales contracts
  • Accountable for the development of the energy balance comprising of line

level production plan; energy purchase plan and energy sales plan

  • Recommends decision for energy balance optimizing source and uses
  • Recommends accredited capacity obligation, maintenance scheduling and

others operational matters as required

  • Recommends operating and maintenance rules of power plants and networks in EAPP
  • Coordinates the activities of load curve forecasting
  • Coordinates analysis of production and dispatching performance and

Constraints

  • Coordinates Demand Side Management (DSM) programs
  • Performs any other duties related to this Job

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Unmatched energy demand against total energy demand
  2. Energy production against actual energy demand
  3. Cycle time in hours to revise the energy balance
  4. Number of Outages due to energy unbalances
  5. Kilowatt reductions in peak system demand
  6. Energy efficiency improvement measures as KWh/KW reduction

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional registration with relevant body
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering shall be an added advantage

Years of Experience

  • 12+ years Professional Working Experience in in Electrical Power System

Operation and Operation Planning of which 8 years’ should be in Power Utility

  • In depth knowledge of Demand Forecasting

  • Successful candidates for the above positions will be offered competitive remuneration package.
  • Appointments for all the positions shall be on Four (4) years contract terms renewable subject to satisfactory performance & continuity of the Post.
